Become a Partner Organization

Volunteers of all faiths changing lives

We recognize the need for a long-term shelter option that serves families in Aiken County. Family Promise intends to create a transitional shelter program that will be coupled with case management for homeless families that cannot be successfully served under our Prevention or Shelter Diversion programs.

Until we provide transitional shelter, there are other ways that your congregation or organization can provide support for the families we serve. This includes serving on a committee, referring families in need of services, raising funds, or providing meals and childcare for our community Keys to Good Tenancy course.

HOST CONGREGATIONS

Once we create a shelter, we will partner with local houses of worship and other community organizations to provide teams of volunteers to support sheltered families. Volunteers may be involved in many ways, including the following:

  • Cooking and hosting dinner

  • Spending the evening with families, talking, tutoring kids or playing games

  • Coordinating children’s crafts & activities

  • Donating necessary supplies for the hosting week

  • Referring families to the shelter

  • Answering the phone

  • Supporting families after they exit shelter as they secure stable housing

  • Providing volunteer support for Day Center activities and needs
